Report Details

What a lovely morning. Partly cloudy, no wind, and 60 degrees. No one else on the beach. The sand is accumulating again on the inside margin (after the big loss in December) so that there is now some slope to the beach and the beach profile is almost restored and the tides no longer reach as far inland, but still no dunes or berms. The restored slope means that there is no longer erosion of the dunes and dune grasses on the south end of this section. Very little trash but on the south end; some medium sized dried Vellella and on the north end, drifts of the rotting, odiferous small ones, such as on the Lincoln City beaches. No dead birds or dead animals. Very little trash (although some good souls had removed a large tangle of very thick rope with small goose-neck barnacles). Two medium sized floats; one black with two brackets on the top, one yellow with brackets on each end, both with a few open ocean barnacles. One half a 20 gallon (water) barrel with many goose-neck barnacles. Some one (the park service?) has cleared the huge logs across the access road making it much easier to walk down to the beach.

We have walked this beach routinely in recent months and have noticed that there are several people, other than us, picking up debris!
