Though overcast many people were enjoying their beach time including a lady from TX.  I will keep an eye on the wooden pallet covered with barnacles and mussels—it's too heavy for me to lug off the...

There is very little change to the sand or dunes along mile 256. The most remarkable observation was of the number of Velella Velellas and their large size.

A cloudy Sunday evening, most people had left the beach. One man jogging with his dog. One woman climbing back up to Camp Winema. This is the first time I've walked this mile for CoastWatch, and I...

Daley Lake has no outlet to the ocean right now-it is completely dry.I picked up only 3 bits of trash-the beach was exceptionally clean.Perfect gorgeous September day that makes me so grateful to...
August 30, 2009 - Lady S
A lovely day for walking even though it was quite windy and a little cool. Large group from Camp Winema on beach. Lot of children running around.
January 10, 2009 - Lady S
Enormous amount of log limbs and sticks. Indications a lot of it had been washed down via streams or just off the hillsides then all along the beach.

December 19, 2008 - Katharine Harding
The outlet from Daley Lake is flowing closer to the foredune. This is of concern ever since the hearing about the dune erosion and Camp Wi-Ne-Ma's responsibility 10 years ago. My dog and I were the...

Sand washed out to sea. Lots of wood drift inshore.

December 4, 2007 - [email protected]
No harbor seals observed on Straub Spit. Considerable sand has been eroded by recent storms.
October 5, 2007 - Lady S
Beautiful day for strolling beach. Lovely sunset. Tangled piles of kelp as well as individual pieces all up and down the beach. More than I have seen there before. I had out of state guests who had...

Just the old dock that washed up on the beach. It's not an attractive addition to the beach. It would take a big truck and some strong men to load it onto same.
June 13, 2007 - Lady S
An unusual amount of driftwood, logs and poles of different sizes. The old "dock" is very large (appr) 12X30 ft.and is readily seen when you walk on to the site. Appears to have floated in, not...
