Report Details

Beach getting wider with change of season. When we started monitoring 7 years ago we would fill trash bags with styrofoam, glass and plastic bottles, flip flops and shoes, rope, shotgun shell casings, and other debris. We now find a few small plastic fragments and an occasional plastic bag. Beach is much cleaner now.

Conditions

Temperature: 58 F. Cloud Cover: Rain. Wind Velocity: Moderate. Wind Direction: S. Tide Level: 3.5 feet.

Human Activities

Number of people: 5. Walking or running: 5.

Beached Birds

Total dead birds: 12. one bird had yellow and green wire ties attached, assume from COASST survey

Driftline Content

Small rocks, Seaweeds and seagrass, Shells, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Wood pieces, Ocean-based debris (from fishing boats, ship trash, etc.). Found a crab trap on beach
