Mile 245 Report
July 4, 2017
Enforcement of illegal fireworks on the beach in Roads End is not working.
Report Details
Enforcement of illegal fireworks on the beach in Roads End is not working. The firework displays are getting bigger and more prolific, overwhelming law enforcement, as they have year after year. Due to the fact that the Lincoln City Police help OSP enforce these laws on the 4th of July, I contacted Chief Kilian of the Lincoln City Police, requesting that they come up with a different plan of action. Per Chief Kilian "I do agree with you that our current tactic is reactive. I will work with our leadership team to brainstorm some ideas on a more proactive basis." Lincoln City counselors for Ward I, Diana Hinton and Susan Wahlke, were also contacted and agreed that discussion is needed.
