Report Details

Usually, we have about 50 people and 3 to 5 dogs this time of year.  As it was October and a weekday, that we surpassed 100 people was a surprise.  We usually see aditional birdlife, and crows instead of ravens.

Conditions

Temperature: 68 F. Wind Velocity: Moderate. Wind Direction: NW. Tide Level: 6.6 feet.

Human Activities

Number of people: 128. Number of dogs: 7. Walking or running: 54. Playing in surf: 4. Playing in sand: 12. Sitting: 2. Photography: 6. Tidepooling: 30. We were surprised to see so many folks on the beach this time of year.

Notable Wildlife

We saw several young gulls (stellar) among the adults. There were two ravens, both adults, apparently a mated pair.

Driftline Content

Seaweeds and seagrass, Shells, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt). The beach was relatively clean this morning. The molts of dungeness and mole crabs averaged a half inch to an inch. They constituted the majority of the driftline.. The rest were shell particles and small wood pieces, mostly bark.
