Fourteen colonies of those small, oval beads and a yard-long by 2-foot-wide cluster of live mussels in varying sizes up to 4 inches rested along a spotty wrack. Fifteen clusters of a green-leafed shore plant grew along the high tide line. These plants are like the ones we saw in Yachats on the conference field trip.

Notable Wildlife

Western gulls observed us from rooftops. One small gull, with white legs and a black dot on her bill, brown to grey back, black tail, white face and breast followed me going up and back on the north section of my mile.

Beached Birds

Total dead birds: 11. No leg bands found. 7 Common murres.One 17-inch wing span, gray belly, 4- inch shin, blue webbed feet, tarsals, no head. Two smaller, one and a half inch shins,pink feet - one no back, no head, pink feet, the other had no wings, the other had only flight feathers left.One belly feathers and breast bones only.

Dead Fish or Invertebrates

One obvious moon jelly, largely intact and upright, 12 inch diameter, no pulse.23 small jellies lay on their sides(about 3 inches from top to tip of tentacle), clear, central system pink, some had tentacles still in tact, along a continuous water mark at just below mid tide line.8 inch X 5 inch lumpy, clear cluster.12 inch diameter jelly, clear outer, amber transparent inner, pink central system.
