Notable Wildlife:
Lots of Birds : Many (100's) "sunbathing" on the top the buildings along the beach. 80-100 Gulls playing in the D River with 20-30 leisurely walking on the beach near Kyllo’s. They weren’t too disturbed by human presence ... they just bounced off to the side as I walked by, then continued with their gull life after I was gone.
Dead Birds:
Fish & Invertebrates:
New Development:
Natural Changes:
For being after a busy weekend, the beach was relatively clear of trash -- just a little more appeared to have been blown in around Kyllo’s/D River (north side of river). "Dirty" foam -- I’m by no way an expert, but it appeared that the dirty part was organic in nature. It didn’t appear to be oily and if you really looked at it, it had a "seaweed color."

January 14, 2018 - Bluewater
It was very noticable since I surveyed in october that the "D" river was flowing straight into the ocean. In October it was crooked and channel like from the sand. Notice new graffiti panted on the...

December 15, 2015 - Anonymous
This is what I found significant in my walk this morning: 1) There were very few people on the beach because of beach access closures and driftwood debris. 2) The high surf scoured the beach,...
  • Note how wide and full the D River is flowing
  • Note the sand erosion
  • The bird was about eight inches long.

Beautiful day at the beach. Warm with a light wind from the north. The beach was very clean after what looked like heavy usage this past weekend. Just north of the D River, there was an unusually...

The D River has changed its course - rather drastically. It now winds around the beach in an elongated arc, rather than going straight out to sea as it usually does. We did a story on this:(http://...

Another gorgeous day at the beach. Over all, very little trash considering the number of visitors. The warm weather brought out the sunbathers plus the picnic baskets. Not much change to the bluffs...

Big waves brought out some serious surfers while the hazy sunshine and very light wind brought out more dog lovers than usual. Seems that vehicles almost outnumbered the people on the beach or at...

A hazy/foggy day with a cold, stiff breeze from the north. Cool enough with the wind to make my hooded ears hurt. An unusual amount of washed up mussels on the beach. Literally thousands of them...
March 6, 2009 - oceanwalker842
Another cool, beautiful day at the beach. A rare, almost windless (2-3 mph) day. At 49 degrees, it was too cold for the kids to be playing in the surf but over one-half of the people on the beach...

September 23, 2008 - oceanwalker842
Another beautiful day on the Oregon coast. Relatively little trash especially after a very busy tourist weekend.
June 27, 2008 - oceanwalker842
Great sunny day. Cool breeze (18-20 mph) from the north frosted my cheeks on my north-bound journey. A bit too cool (with the wind) to enjoy playing in the surf. Too much wind for kites, but that...
March 22, 2008 - oceanwalker842
This was a cool, hazy sunny day on the first day of spring break. Only problem area was the usual evidence of people climbing the sand bluffs approx 1/6 mile north of Canyon Drive Park. (Nobody was...

Not too many brave souls out on the beach. Most were walking to get out of the rain. Only five were on the rocks at 15th street beach.
September 16, 2007 - oceanwalker842
Light useage this walk due to weather. Very light drizzle but comfortable to walk. Moderate breeze 5-6 mph. Very little scattered debris from weekend visitors. Most around D River. The sand carving...
