Pleasant day after nearly a month of rain.

Pleasant day after nearly a month of rain. More people than usual out walking on the beach. Picked up 1/2 bag of trash ... mostly small plastic pieces and styrofoam.

Temperature: 61 F. Cloud Cover: Sunny. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: S. Tide Level: 5.0 feet.

Number of people: 16. Number of dogs: 2. Walking or running: 7. Sitting: 7. Fishing: 2. Estimated 98 people and 9 dogs on the Taft side of the Siletz but we did not walk that side. One group arrived on the Spit by boat.

Notable Wildlife
A flock of Heermann's Gulls at the end of the Salishan Spit. We noticed these birds at about the same time last year. 70+ harbor seals on the spit or in the water.

Not a bad fall day for a walk with our out-of-town visitors, but walking the beach was impossible due to the high tide and big waves, which were reaching the beach grass area and bouncing large pieces of driftwood around.

After a winter and spring of horrible weather, we finally got out to survey our mile on a mild day.
