A cool but calm day in a streak of very dry weather. The harbor seals have returned to their favorite hang-out at the tip of the Salishan Spit and evidently have produced a few pups this season. Very little trash - we only collected a few small items.
Conditions
Temperature: 51 F. Cloud Cover: Foggy. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: W. Tide Level: 1.0 feet.

Number of people: 11. Number of dogs: 3. Walking or running: 6. Playing in sand: 5. Other Activities: An estimated 125 people across the mouth of the Siletz on the beach at Taft (+ 5 dogs) but we did not walk that side..

Cars/trucks parking: 6.
Notable Wildlife
Est. 150 harbor seals in their usual resting place at the tip of the Salishan Spit. They were separated into two clusters of about 75 each. Several juveniles were spotted. Saw one osprey in flight headed up the Siletz River. Some surf scoters in Siletz Bay on the east side of the spit.

A beautiful 70-degree day in mid-March .

Not a bad fall day for a walk with our out-of-town visitors, but walking the beach was impossible due to the high tide and big waves, which were reaching the beach grass area and bouncing large pieces of driftwood around.
