Report Details

photos of highest tide of the year at Fishing Rock Headland looking south

Conditions

Temperature: 50 F. Cloud Cover: Sunny. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: S. Tide Level: 10.6 feet.

Human Activities

This was the highest tide of the year and there was no beach. Pictures were taken (actually from mile 234, Fishing Rock Headline, looking South) to document the height of the water and power of the waves. It was lucky that this high tide event did NOT correspond to any storm surge

Concerns

Apparent violations: none.

Driftline Content

no driftline

Natural Changes

Evidence of wave overtopping. the sandstone layer at the top of the bluffs is being eroded by waves overtopping the top of the bluff. Small rockfalls are frequent (noticed in other trips subsequently).

Actions & Comments

Photographs of the Fogarty Beach area (miles 233 and 234 have continued to be taken) to document the changes
