Summary:
The beach was fairly clean for this time of the year, but rope, floats and plastic bottles were observed.Nine members of the Longview Hills Fishing club enjoyed the walk on the beach. It was a beautiful day.

The group picked up about 200 lbs of debris from the beach. The King tides had brought in quite a bit from the ocean. There were not many RVs at the campground.

A beautiful day at the beach. Moderate wind from the southwest at 17 mph. Accessed the Beach at Beverly Beach State Park. Spencer Creek has been diverted by a huge sandbar and is flowing to the south...
  • Spencer Creek diverted to the south by a large sand bar at beach access.
  • Standing waves in Spencer Creek due to small dunes in creek. Note large number of gulls socializing between the creek and shoreline.
  • Note the large number of shore pine needles and plastic fish in the debris line. Large kelp pods were deposited on the beach.
  • Large concretions eroded out of the Astoria formation outcrop along back beach. Note fresh small rock fall from cliff face above the three concretion eroded area.
  • A small debris slide from the cliff face. A large amount of soil water is draining along the rock face behind the debris. The soil and vegetation debris pile is about 6 feet high by 6 feet thick and 15 feet long.
  • Small vegetated dunes standing about 2 to 3 feet high along the back beach area near cliff face and Astoria Formation outcrop.

This walk was a joint effort by our group of Longview Fishing Club members, 17 of us. Our club received many thanks from the tourists on the beach for keeping it clean.
