Report Details

A rainy day--Hatfield had 0.05 inches in the hour I was on beach, while my backyard rain gauge had 0.08 inch (my daily total was 0.24 miles). On the walk down from 57th street--there are now some trail markings. There are more surfers using this way to access Sea Star Beach.I was rather surprised that there was anyone on the beach with the rain--but I guess some people needed to get out, suffering from cabin fever.

Conditions

Temperature: 57 F. Cloud Cover: Rain. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: S. Tide Level: 1.2 feet.

Human Activities

Number of people: 4. Playing in surf: 2. Other Activities: A family of 4--two kids playing in surf, the adults where further inland and they had a fire. The small fire was away from any vegetation, and with it raining wasn't a threat..

Notable Wildlife

I easily could count several hundred birds--its nesting season at Yaquina Head.

Driftline Content

Seaweeds and seagrass, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt). The beach was the cleanest I have seen in regard to plastics---virtually none. And there were very few crab casings.

Natural Changes

Landslides/major boulder falls, Visible retreat of solid bluff. Erosion happening--as especially seen in a new pipe exposed at the second pipe location. Also some more erosion at where I normally have as my 75 feet mark for King Tides.
