Report Details

I was suprised there was anyone on the beach--between the rain and wind gusts of 20 mph. NOAA had forecast a surf height of 16-20 feet. There was also a weather warning about sneaker tides. I didn't go to my usual "Keyhole" location as it was already obstructed by tide.   There has been major cliff ersosion. A fast catalog of pipe in cliff changes is 3rd Pipes-southern no longer visible due to slide, but an even more northerly set found. The 4th Pipes has reappeared. And a new set of pipes (5th Pipes) has appeared just south of NW 68th entrance to the beach.

Conditions

Temperature: 48 F. Cloud Cover: Rain. Wind Velocity: Strong. Wind Direction: SW. Tide Level: 2.2 feet.

Human Activities

Number of people: 1. Number of dogs: 1. Walking or running: 1.

Notable Wildlife

Saw over 100 birds--many at NW68th street at Schooner Creek

Driftline Content

Marine debris (plastic, styrofoam, etc. washing in from the sea). Not much microplastic on the beach, but what there was in the wrack line. I also took 2 photos of "fishing" gear on the beach.

Natural Changes

Landslides/major boulder falls, Newly exposed roots/trees falling. The winter storms have continued the process of erosion. I had to move my King Tide cliff photo spot in January 2021 because of erosion putting it nearer to the edge than I wanted.
