Recent large swells (for summer anyway!) began to erode portions of the summer dunes and deposited a fair amount of macro algae and eelgrass in the wrack line.

Temperature: 58 F. Cloud Cover: Cloudy. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: N. Tide Level: 4.3 feet.

Number of people: 57. Number of dogs: 5. Walking or running: 50. Playing in sand: 3. Sitting: 1. Other Activities: 3. A week prior there were ATV tracks on beach by Jump off Joe. Not sure if official use or not

Climbing bluffs/seastacks, Litter

Disturbances: Shorebirds moving in response to humans/dogs

Cars/trucks parking: 9.

Beached Birds

Surprisingly none today, but have been seeing murres, fulmars, gulls, cormorants in past weeks - a reasonable amount, not particulary many or few.

Dead Fish or Invertebrates

Unusual concentration. Jellies not abundant, but were common in some areas, species similar to mile 216 report.

Driftline Content

Seaweeds and seagrass, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Land-based debris (picnics, etc.), Shells, Small rocks, Wood pieces. Minor amounts of trash visible

Actions & Comments

Chronic minor erosion at Jump off Joe and bluffs to North. Common to see people playing on them. No major changes recently.
