I walked north from Thiel Creek to Moore Creek.
Report Details
I walked north from Thiel Creek to Moore Creek. There were thousands of jellies from low tide line all the way to the cliff face. This makes it obvious that high tide is reaching the cliff face and will continue to erode the area. Adults and children on the beach, that were not playing football, had a bucket, sock, or bag to collect agates, jasper, fossilized bone ect...I discovered one cave in the cliff face that water was pouring out of. I could not tell if this was natural or caused from the development above. The cave was about 20 feet into the cliff then water poored down from above. Mid way between the cliff face and the tide line were a number of large pieces of drift wood mostly buried. There were also many mounds along the beach that looked like large rocks, but with closer observation discovered that they were mud stone. My biggest concern in this area is with the new steps and serious erosion problems here.

Temperature: 68 F. Cloud Cover: Sunny. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Tide Level: -8.0 feet.
Human Activities
Number of people: 21. Number of dogs: 3. Other Activities: 11 men were playing flag football. everyone who wasn't playing football were collecting rocks.
Concerns
Apparent violations: tire tracks again on beach.
Vehicles
Cars/trucks parking: 8.
Beached Birds
Total dead birds: 2. one was unidentifiable. The other was a male Black Scoter.
Dead Fish or Invertebrates
Unusual concentration. There were literally thousands of small dead jellies (Velella velella, or "By-the-Wind Sailors) on the beach. They were scattered from low tide to the cliff face.

Major cracks appearing in bluffs, Landslides/major boulder falls.
Actions & Comments
The site of new construction is a serious concern. The cliff face is separating and sliding down to the beach in sections. There is terraceing below the home and above the cliff face in an attempt to slow down the erosion. There is also a new stair case built here down to the beach usuing wood, metal posts and concrete. Lastly, there is a cluster of corregated black drainage pipe coming out of the cliff face. Looks like a disaster.

A new house is being built just south of Grant Creek near an unstable portion of the bluff (picture attached). A new railing installed along a section of riprap (picture attached). A large rock field is exposed along this section (picture attached). Several small slide/slough areas apparent associated with the rains earlier in the month.
