Report Details

Three of the four drainpipes have been either removed or cut down.  Erosion continues in the cliffs, including at least 3 areas with sizable boulders broken off and fallen onto the beach.  The level of the beach has risen by at least a foot, since the rocks near the water are protruding less high above the sand.  There are a few areas of standing water again at the foot of the embankment.  But Mile 211 remains one of the more unspoiled beaches I have seen on the Central Coast, and when the sun is out, as today, it is very appealing.  Most of the people use the beach immediately in front of the Lost Creek parking lot or in front of Holiday Beach.  In between, there are very few people.

Large number of velella velella; also driftwood pieces that had been sawed from larger driftwood logs on the beach.

New Development

Drainage pipes.

Natural Changes

Landslides/major boulder falls.

Actions & Comments

In my previous report I described 4 drainpipes just north of Thiele Creek.  The first one north of the Creek (44.566516, -124.070647) is still there, but the next one immediately to the north, as well as the third one north of the Creek (44.568271, -124.070703) have disappeared.  The very long fourth drainpipe north of the creek (44.569371, -124.070631) has been cut off at the very top of the cliff, and the long hanging section has been allowed to fall down into the sandy area at the base of the embankment; see attached photo.
