Report Details

Today was our last day on beach before heading to Tucson tomorrow. Wanted to save our last walk of our mile until today. It was a beautiful day and very glad we took time from packing to do it. The beach was as clean as I have ever seen it. We did not pick up one piece of trash! We will miss doing our mile until next May.

Driftline Content

Shells. First time we had seen razor clam shells at driftline.

New Development

Steps down bluff.

Man-made Modifications

New riprap or shoreline protection structures. This seems more extensive since last walk.

Actions & Comments

The first house south of Lost Creek State Park appears to be bringing in dirt and rocks to build a gradual path to the beach. The amount of riprap below the home seems more extensive than previously. There are also stone steps we had never noticed before and an attempt to make a gradual bath to the beach from the bottom of the steps. There has been dirt and rock brought in. See pictures attached. I have not contacted anyone regarding this.

We have noticed that during the winter storms the sand on the beach moves (presumably offshore) and then is redeposited during spring.
