blooming: sea rocket, silverweed (Potentilla), yarrow, red clover, yellow monkey-flower; live beach hoppers (Traskorchestia) and isopods (Excirolana)

Unusual concentration. lots of small mole crab (Emerita analoga)skeletons, with a few adults, in the driftline

We have noticed that during the winter storms the sand on the beach moves (presumably offshore) and then is redeposited during spring.
