The sun was out, the blue sky was decorated with a few fluffy white clouds. The temperature was mile with no wind.We were just enjoying ourselves! As were the other 30 people we saw, the most we have ever seen on this beach since we have been walking it.The tide was quite a ways out so there was lots of clean, smooth , hard sand to walk on.

Temperature: 61 F. Cloud Cover: Sunny. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Tide Level: 0.5 feet.

Human Activities

Number of people: 32. Number of dogs: 2. Walking or running: 32. Concern: Tire tracks on the beach. These were the tires of a pick-up truck. I assume they came onto the beach in the Bayshore area and traveled to Seal Rock and back.No unusual animal activity. A few sea gulls enjoying the warm sunshine and a treat.... a cute white tailed bunny ran across the path as we were entering the beach.

I had read that the 265-foot vessel Seacor Lee would be anchoring a mile off Driftwood Beach in support of OSU's PacWave South wave energy testing project, positioned so that divers from the ship could perform work on previously installed seafloor conduits.

By the time I got to Driftwood Wayside, a lot of people had already arrived for their New Years Day beach walks, some 30 vehicles in the parking lot and 30 - 40 people down on the beach, accompanied by at least half as many dogs, almost all leashed.
