Man-made Modifications

New riprap or shoreline protection structures. Large amount of small rock, possible riprap, between Silver Surf Motel and Starr Creek

Actions & Comments

For the past year, there have always been a lot of rocks piled near the motel, but this time it seemed that there were many more, or more were revealed this time. A bicyclist asked me if there were always this many rocks here, then "warned" me that the beach had better be less rocky for an upcoming bike race!

Walking north oh Wayside Lodge I saw 15 or so dead Black Turnstone. That was the only species of bird that was dead. Lots of plastic bottles that I picked up.

I was just curious if a person who is knowledgeable about geology could explain what I'm seeing in the cliff here?

It was the best day in quite a while for trail and beach walking--warm and dry.
