While there was a small amount of trash (<3") scattered along most of the beach, there was a large concentration of small-sized debris in the driftline over several hundred yards. Concentrated in the beach area just south of Sea Perch RV Park to north of Beachcomber Cottages (see pic). Found one red plastic colored bottle top with the word "Portola" on the inside of the cap (see pic).
New Development:
Identified nine sets of steps coming down the bluff. No change from last visit. (see pictures 1-9 relate to south to north). Identified the rubber tire that we found the previous trip that had cement with rock imbedded in the center. There is a set of steps coming down from the bluff that is made out of rubber tires with cement in the middle. This particular tire has been moved from the steps to in front of a waterfall. (see pic)

Comments:

It was a warm, sunny day on the beach with some high clouds at times.  Today was a “King high tide” day with the high tide being approximately 12:15 p.m. and estimated at 9.2 feet. Low tide approximately 7:45 a.m.  Tide estimated from 5' to 8' during the 2 1/2 hours I was on the beach.

I started the survey from the Sea Perch RV Resort.  I was given permission from the resort to access the beach.  Very friendly staff at the resort and they were interested in what the CoastWatch is doing.  As I got on the beach I found a large amount of small pieces of trash in the driftline (see pic).  I was able to identify one red plastic bottle top with the word “Portola” written on it.

I identified 9 sets of stairs coming down from the bluffs.  Sea Perch RV Resort does not keep their stairs down all year round. (See pictures of all steps.)

I found one crab dead near the rocks to the west of Endless Sea Bed & Breakfast (name came from Google map) after the tide went out.

I observed 6 to 7 dozen seagulls on the beach, in the water and flying.

Observed 17 people and 4 dogs on the beach in a variety of activities: walking, playing in surf, sitting and rockhunting.

There were 8 vehicles parked in parking areas 85 and 86.  The parking areas were clean.

Summary:

Warm (55 degrees), sunny with high clouds, calm/slight wind.  King High Tide today.
