The beach at mile 181 appears natural and free of changes. There are very few areas of dry sand or dunes. The tide comes almost to the cliff and path to the entrance. A few logs are visible at the high tide line. The beach is very flat and sand is firmly packed. The cool and foggy weather seems to limit the length of public visits on the sand. Errosion is minimal.

During a minus tide I noticed the sand was soaked with puddles and with wet logs scattered everywhere. There were places where hundreds of Velella jellyfish were observed on the sand.
