Report Details

This was our first walk on this portion of beach. Low tide was at 7:30 a.m. and we ventured onto the beach from Hobbit Beach Trail around 10:00 a.m. A very mild day, light wind with clear skies. We tracked our starting coordinates by GPS. It was convenient to have a group of rocks just off shore to mark our starting point. Debris - mainly rope and plastic (that washed ashore) and we were amazed to find a couple pieces of shippers documents dated 06/09. Quite a bit of wood particles, small rocks and broken shells. One sea bird was noted flying overhead. There were some obviously new rock slides and erosion. We left the beach as the tide was rapidly approaching. We removed two bags of beach debris.

March 15, 2024

During a minus tide I noticed the sand was soaked with puddles and with wet logs scattered everywhere. There were places where hundreds of Velella jellyfish were observed on the sand.
