Comments:
Several sections of beach eroded back to the foredune, showing 6' to 8' bluffs at high tide line. Most of beach is still gently sloping. Small creek near south end of mile is running straight to ocean without pooling up at base of foredunes as in summer/fall. Saw only one group of plovers, but it was a very large group feeding at waterline. Found a dead cormorant, a dead guillemot, and oddly, a freshly dead juvenile mink, found at the high tide line. Plastic trash of all types is starting to build up on the beaches.
Summary:
Few ATVs seen on this visit. Several sections of beach are eroded back to the base of the foredune; most of the beach is still gently sloping. Small creek near south end of mile is running straight to ocean without pooling up at base of foredunes as in summer/fall. Found a dead cormorant, dead guillemot, and, oddly, a freshly dead juvenile mink at the high tide line.
