Report Details

This is the section of Mile 16 I call the Miner Creek access. The steep trail follows a steep and rocky creek to the small beach below. Other than the usual minor erosion problems and tree downings along the creek and trail and the very small very clean beach caused by the winter storms, there's not much to report. Nature can recover from small problems very effectively.

Actions & Comments

The steep trail runs along a steep and rocky creek to the very small beach below. There seem to be a inordinate number of downed trees along the trail. Like nature was downing the trees to fill the gash of the trail. One small area I viewed seems to have been eroding for awhile as a tree had fallen over the trail and had been cut back some time ago. The area the tree fell from was eroding even more and pretty rapidly into the creek due to the winter storms I believe. It had eroded, the tree fell and there was more erosion because the tree had fallen. It was such a minor point of erosion, but it made me wonder how the timber/logging industry can continue to be in denial about the long term and destructive effects of clear cutting and low-diversity replanting.

Not a lot of garbage on the the Natural trail, but the Arch Rock trail did have quite a few plastic bottles and pop cans.
