Report Details

It was a beautiful day which may have contributed to so many taking the rough drive down Sparrow Park Road to enjoy the beach. Vehicle and ATV tracks were abundant. On our drive from the entrance area to mile 146 (north of the jetty), many crab carcasses were noted, many more than mile 146 south of the jetty. Litter was also in abundance. Some was obviously human litter from visitors to the area, but most looked to have been washed up by the tides. Water bottles of all sizes and shapes, empty and full, were the most notable, too many to pick up in one trip, it was sad. One bottle had bright yellow plastic labeling in a foreign language. A shoe was retrieved. It is unclear where it may have originated from, but it looked to have put its time in the ocean waters and was home to many critters. There were several wooden structures and wood pieces with metal coming out of them, like pilings or parts of docks maybe. All else appeared normal.
