Mile 131 Report
Horsfall Beach, Oregon Dunes NRA
July 5, 2009
The beach has more sand against the bluff.
Report Details
The beach has more sand against the bluff. There were alot more people this trip (41-walking, 2 playing in sand and others driving on allowed beach), and I collected only two bags of trash. There really wasn't much more to collect, pretty clean being as it the Sunday after the Fourth of July.I also saw a ranger driving north on the ATV side of the mile. Two small driftwood fires still smoking a bit, on the ATV side of the mile. The dead seal (probably a Harbor Seal) was not real large, I could not tellwhat had killed it. I did not see anything obvious like a fishing line or plastic. It was well up on the shoreline and had spots on its coat. Swallows, gulls and Turkey Vultures seen. Shells, animal casings, small rocks, land-and ocean-based debris in driftline. Fireworks debris on beach.
