Report Details

This is always my favorite time of year to do this walk. The cliffs are full of clover and yellow flowers. There are usually small birds singing away. All along the beach good infill of sand. Very little trash. On the south end, because of very low tide, lg colonies of mussels, sea stars and anemones. Still some cormorant nests in this area and some inland movement of nests, but less than in previous years. The people finished the cliff development that was started last quarter. They did get a permit for this. It looks interesting. Will see what next winter brings. On either side of the ship-like rock development there does seem to be some erosion. Planted century plants that still cling, but just barely. North end sandstone just crumbling away. Can much more easily get to the pocket beach on the other side. Shells, kelp/algae, wood, plastic pellets and Styrofoam in the driftline. One pinniped swimming beyond the surf. Eleven people(6 walking, one fishing and students talking a class) and two dogs on the beach.
