Report Details

I'd heard about some significant tree blow downs on the pack trail,  but found the usual situation in the cove. There's always small trees and dirt sloughing off the steep cliffs. Really pleasant afternoon. Some people found the terrain more challenging than others. I did a quick survey,  but walked all of it I could. I'd say all is well.  Found a foam float and some rope wedged into a crack so tight I could not remove it. Only a few plastics, but again, a pretty quick survey.

Landslides/major boulder falls, Newly exposed roots/trees falling, Visible retreat of solid bluff.

Actions & Comments

The landslides and such are just a feature of the landscape with the steep cliffs. It wasn't too slippery navigating the low tide. I thought it might be that there's less life in this winter month.

Mile 116

Seven Devils cliffs, Cape Arago South Cove

March 16, 2024

There was a beach hazard statement issued and I wanted to see what impact that would have as we were experiencing the first fine weather after so many weeks of cold rain. I was charmed by a family of six playing on the beach, the children even playing in the water.
