Mile 116 Report
Seven Devils cliffs, Cape Arago South Cove
February 2, 2008
The mile looks much the same as last visit.
Report Details
The mile looks much the same as last visit. It seems like a new tree has slid down the bluff. Erosion is continuing at northern border of mile 116. Five rain-fed waterfalls flowing at full force into the mile. Rain water does not seem to bother sea anemones as several were open in the current of one of these waterfalls. Live birds included one Western Gull and one cormorant. Kelp, bull kelp tangles, small rocks and wood pieces in driftline. Low human impact (6)-tidepooling.

Persistent light rain; 5 rain-fed waterfalls flowing full force into my mile. Rain water does not seem to bother sea anemones, saw several open in the current of one of these water falls. Saw evidence of monitoring by unknown (to me) group. Several orange scrubby pads grouped in four and bolted to tide pool rocks.

There was a beach hazard statement issued and I wanted to see what impact that would have as we were experiencing the first fine weather after so many weeks of cold rain. I was charmed by a family of six playing on the beach, the children even playing in the water.
