Report Details

A harbor seal pup stayed in the same general area below Coquille Point from May 15 to May 28, when I found it dead on the high-tide line. Initially, it moved around and even went into the ocean. But the last several days, it did not move far and was obviously weakening. Later in the morning of May 27, a friend using a spotter scope zoomed in and saw the pup was perilously thin and weak. Others heard it crying.  Early on, I notified the Bilderbacks, who consulted Eric Murtz. But nothing substantive was done to isolate the pup from people and dogs or help it until May 27. Too little, too late. Photo from cell sent to Jim W. this morning.

Conditions

Temperature: 50 F. Cloud Cover: Cloudy. Wind Velocity: Moderate. Wind Direction: N. Tide Level: -0.8 feet.
