Report Details

Beach walk include 9 SEA members and new Coast Watch coorinator Jesse Jones.  More dead birds than we have seen in past, one dead Harbor seal (old & has previously been reported to MMS network) and a dead fish (Cabazon).  Evidence of bluff sluffing in back yard of home on the bluff. Did not include all photos of dead birds.

Temperature: 67 F. Cloud Cover: Cloudy. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: SW. Tide Level: -0.1 feet.

Human Activities

Number of people: 70. Number of dogs: 4. Walking or running: 54. Playing in sand: 13. Other Activities: Setting up for wedding #3.

Concerns

Climbing bluffs/seastacks

Apparent violations: One climbing on rocks was asked to get down.

Vehicles

Cars/trucks parking: 18.

Beached Birds

Total dead birds: 10. 2 adult Murres, 1 Murre chick, 7 Western Gulls

Stranded Marine Mammals

Total stranded mammals: 1. Adult Harbor Seal, had been there for a week or two, decaying

Dead Fish or Invertebrates

Unusual concentration. Adult Cabazon one

Driftline Content

Small rocks, Seaweeds and seagrass, Shells, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Wood pieces.

Natural Changes

Visible retreat of solid bluff.
