The Newport group of Citizens’ Climate Lobby (CCL) and 350 Oregon Central Coast are sponsoring a training workshop entitled "An Effective Climate Change Solution for You." The workshop will explore recently introduced federal climate change legislation at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 23 at the Newport Public Library (35 N.W. Nye St, Newport). The focus of the presentation will be how central Oregon coast individuals can become effectively involved to help pass federal legislation and includes hands-on training.

Brian Ettling, volunteer for the Citizens Climate Lobby in Portland, will be the key presenter exploring what is happening with federal climate change legislation. Ettling will describe the bi-partisan federal legislation entitled Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act of 2019, H.R. 763. This proposed legislation would reduce America’s emissions by 40% in 12 years by placing a fee on carbon. The funds generated from the carbon fee would be distributed back to American households in the form of a monthly dividend.
