The Oregon Coastal and Ocean Information Network (OCOIN) is hosting its 5th annual virtual webinar on Thursday, Oct. 21.  The audience is primarily ocean and coastal professionals, who can network through the event, but members of the public with a serious interest in science can listen in.  There will be speakers drawn from the science, policy, and management sectors, and discussion about the ocean science-to-ocean policy link.  The them is “Interdisciplinarity and the Science to Policy Process.”

Lead speaker will be Lorenzo Ciannelli, who will speak about the differences between inter-, multi-, and trans-disciplinary approaches to team projects and how this affects ocean and coastal science.  Dr. Ciannelli is a professor at Oregon State University.  His main research interest in fisheries oceanography:  the study of how ocean physical and biogeochemical processes affect fish populations and communities.
