At long last, CoastWatch is beginning to offer beachwalks and field trainings.  Our citizen science trainer, Fawn Custer, will meet people—CoastWatchers and others—on the beach at Otter Rock for a tidepool exploration on Tuesday, June 1, at 10 a.m.  The event is free and open to all.

Fawn will be meeting with a school group, but invites CoastWatchers and others to join in to learn more about tidepools and how to observe them.  Fawn will also provide information on the new protocols that have been developed for surveying marine debris.

Please wear a mask if you have not been vaccinated.

Meet on the beach north of Otter Rock; take the trail down from the public parking lot in Otter Rock.  Be aware that the last stretch has suffered some erosion and is difficult to navigate; at present it may be difficult for those with disabilities to access the beach.  Look for Fawn on the beach in her trademark orange rainpants.
