As part of their “Speaking Truth to Power” series of talks, the North Coast Communities for Watershed Protection are hosting Chuck Willer, director of the Coast Range Association, for a presentation on “Wall Street Forests, the Climate Crisis, and the Green New Deal.”  Willer will speak on Tuesday, April 9, 6-8 p.m. (doors open at 5:30) at the North County Recreation District building (36155 9th St.) in Nehalem.  The event is free and open to all; light refreshments will be served.

Willer, who has directed the Coast Range Association for 27 years, will summarize three years of research into the ownership and management of Western Oregon's forests. He will discuss past research in light of the climate crisis and potential opportunities afforded through the much-discussed Green New Deal. The opportunities and proposals he will explore center on building up carbon-dense forests to mitigate climate change, protect watersheds and provide for rural economic renewal.
