On Saturday, Nov. 13, 10 a.m., the Cape Perpetua Collaborative presents a talk by Andrea Scharf, author of “Saving Big Creek.”  She will discuss the campaign to stop development of a destination resort on property near the mouth of the creek, south of Yachats, and efforts to restore the Oregon Silverspot Butterfly population and bring it back from the brink of
extinction.

Andrea Scharf, a Yachats resident, has an MFA in Creative Writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts, and has published short stories and articles on subjects ranging from the nutritional impact of dead salmon to the financial impact of a colliers’ strike.  She writes a book blo Andrea Scharf has been writing since she was ten. She has worked as a teacher, co-founder and manager of the Portland Saturday Market, small business entrepreneur, city planner, marketing director, and association manager, among other positions. Since moving to the Oregon Coast, she has been active in protecting that environment as founder and former chair of View the Future, a nonprofit environmental advocacy organization.
