State of the Coast Conference
The annual State of the Coast Conference takes place online again this year, Oct. 28-29. The event, sponsored by Oregon Sea Grant, is free, but registration is required. To register, go here.
The conference features an array of short talks, providing updates on coastal issues and concerns, along with breakout session that dig deeper into topics, student presentations, and an art display.
The conference kicks off at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 28. Keynote speaker, at 8:45, is Fernanda Oyarzun, a scientist, artist, and educator from Chile. Dr. Oyarzun is a sculptor whose works portray the marine world, a science illustrator, and a marine biology instructor.
Talks and breakout sessions on the first day, which runs until 2 p.m., include everything from whales to tourism to kelp forests to the fishing industry. Here is the complete program.
