Sea Otter Awareness Week
This year marks the 20th anniversary of Sea Otter Awareness Week (SOAW), celebrated from Sept. 18-24. SOAW is organized and sponsored by Defenders of Wildlife, Sea Otter Savvy, and the California Department of Parks and Recreation.
Here in Oregon, the Elakha Alliance will host the first event of this year’s SOAW. The Elakha Alliance is a nonprofit comprised of conservation scientists, tribal leaders, and concerned citizens working to restore Oregon's historic sea otter populations. On Sunday, Sept. 18 at 12 p.m., Bob Bailey, Elakha Alliance’s Board President, will present the results of the scientific Feasibility Study sponsored by the group, and outline the next steps to return sea otters to Oregon’s coastline.
This remote presentation is free and open to all.
