On Thursday, Dec. 22, CoastWatch and the Oregon Coastal Management Program are hosting a King Tides kickoff event for the second round of this winter’s project, which occurs during the Dec. 22-24 high tide sequence. The event, free and open to all, takes place at the Fort George Brewery’s Lovell Showroom, at 14th and Duane Street in Astoria.  Doors open at 6 p.m.; the event runs 7-8 p.m.  No registration required; food and drink will be available.

The kickoff will feature Jesse Jones, CoastWatch’s volunteer coordinator, and Alessandra Burgos, a project manager with Oregon State University for the National Science Foundation- funded Cascadia Coastlines and Peoples Hazards Research Hub.

The event is part of the Nature Matters series sponsored by the brewery and Lewis & Clark National Historical Park. More information about Nature Matters here.
