The national March for Science taking place on Earth Day, Saturday, March 22, has a partner in Coos Bay, called COOS—Celebration of Oregon Science.  A Coos County version of the march will be held from noon to 2 p.m. that day.  Assemble on the Boardwalk on the east side of Hwy 101 near the Visitor Center (if enough people gather, some of the staging may take place on the west side of the highway as well).  The march will follow a route along the highway and through downtown.

It was organized by a local group of “logic-minded” individuals to further this mission: “The Celebration of Oregon Science strives to bring together all who wonder and seek to understand the community in which we live, the world, and indeed, the universe.  We all benefit from sharing the knowledge each of us gather in an effort to add to the common good.”

There will also be a concurrent science fair (noon-2:30 p.m.) taking place on the Boardwalk, with tables for a range of groups displaying science activities taking place in the area.  Any individual or group involved with a science topic is invited to display their work.
