Oregon Shores is collaborating with Shoreline Education for Awareness (SEA) to sponsor a series of talks this winter and spring.  We will also be working together with SEA on citizen science projects in the Bandon area.

The first of these talks is coming up Sunday, Jan. 20, 2 p.m. in the Bandon Public Library (1204 11th St., S.W.).  The subject will be climate change and how we can respond to it.  The speaker will be Ann Schmierer, executive director of the Wild Rivers Land Trust.

She will provide an overview of climate change and the challenges it poses to our coastal ecosystems. She will introduce efforts used to build resiliency within these ecosystems for better future adaptation to climate change pressures, to “Turn the Tide on Climate Change:  Strategies that Make a Difference.”  Her discussion will include some of the latest contributions Wild Rivers Land Trust is making towards mitigating climate change as well as provide tips for individuals who want to take action. The Wild Rivers Land Trust, a non-profit organization promoting land conservation on Oregon's southern coast.
