A long-distance public hearing for coastal residents on a bill that would establish a state Carbon Policy Office will be held on Monday, Feb. 25, beginning at 6 p.m.

The Oregon Legislature’s Joint Committee on Carbon Reduction will hold a hearing on House Bill 2020, which established a Carbon Policy Office with the Oregon Department of Administrative Services and directs that the Oregon Climate Action Plan be adopted by rule.

The committee is holding public hearings for those far from Salem via video link.  The coast’s turn comes on Feb. 25.  Those wishing to comment on the bill and the need for a Carbon Policy Office can do so at the Lincoln County Extension headquarters, 1211 S.E. Bay Blvd. in Newport, in the Thompson Conference Room on the first floor, from 6-7 p.m.

Written materials can be submitted to [email protected].  Comments can be sent up to 24 hours in advance of the meeting and be posted on the Oregon Legislative Information System.
