In celebration of our 50th anniversary, and to help support our conservation work this year and in years to come, we have launched a special auction.  Take a look at bwc.io/OregonShores.

We’ve been assembling a cornucopeia of items for bid:  Tours and guided hikes, lodging, art, books, and a great deal more—even an electric bike!  You will find much to choose from on the auction site at present, but that isn’t the end of it.  This is a rolling auction; we’ll be adding new items throughout the year.  (In fact, one way to support Oregon Shores is to contribute new auction offerings.)  You will want to visit the site repeatedly.  Winning bids go toward protecting the coastal environment we all love.

While the auction lasts all year, bidding ends at set times for individual items.  For instance, you have 10 days left to bid on a birding expedition, six weeks to bid on a guided tour of the Cape Perpetua area, and three months to bid on a weekend stay on Netarts Bay.  Bidding has yet to open on some items, but you can see what’s coming on the site and get your bid ready.

This auction is exactly like a silent auction–except it’s online. You’ll sign up with an e-mail address, make your bid and then wait. If someone else bids, you will receive an e-mail asking if you would like to bid again. E-mails are also sent with 48 hours and 12 hours left to let you know that the bids for the item you bid on is ending soon! When the time is up for that item, you’ll be notified that you won and then you will make a payment. Fulfillment differs for each item, but the Oregon Shores auction committee will make it easy on the winners to receive their items. Items have different timelines–some are listed just for days or weeks, and some for many months. Items will come and go, so make sure to visit again and again for new listings! We are grateful to the businesses and individuals who have donated items to help make this campaign the best it can be. Items will be accepted through the end of October, so if you or someone you know would like to support Oregon Shores and CoastWatch, please email jesse@oregonshores.org.

The auction is hosted by BetterWorld, a cutting-edge social impact venture built to support the individuals, businesses and non-profits that serve and better our communities.
