COMMENTSKelp and algae in the drifline were Fucus (Rockweed), Nereocystis (Bull Kelp), Alaria (Ribbon Kelp), Egregia (Feather Boa Kelp), Mazzaella (Iridescent Seaweed), Cystoseira (Northern Bladder Chain), Hymenena (Black-lined Red Seaweed), and Postelsia palmaeformis (Sea Palm). Much tangled Sea Grass, Zostera. Beach slope of 4 to 13 degrees.
SUMMARYShells, crab casings, kelp/algae, Sea Grass, broken Sand Dollars, a few Sea Jellies, many worm casings and small rocks in driftline. Western and Semipalmated Sandpipers foraging on beach. Two Snowy Plover on the dry sand. Caspian Terns flying over surf and Brown Pelicans on ocean. Ridge and runnel formation occurring. Beach slope of 4-13 degrees. Wind speed of 6.3 mph from NW. Air and ocean temperature of 58 and 53 degrees F., respectively. Low human impact (1)-Snowy Plover predator control on ATV.
