12 REPORTS FOR MILE 256:

Daley Lake has no outlet to the ocean right now-it is completely dry. I picked up only 3 bits of trash-the beach was exceptionally clean. Perfect gorgeous September day that makes me so grateful to live here and to be familiar with this beach mile!   MORE

A lovely day for walking even though it was quite windy and a little cool. Large group from Camp Winema on beach. Lot of children running around.   MORE

Enormous amount of log limbs and sticks. Indications a lot of it had been washed down via streams or just off the hillsides then all along the beach.   MORE

The outlet from Daley Lake is flowing closer to the foredune. This is of concern ever since the hearing about the dune erosion and Camp Wi-Ne-Ma's responsibility 10 years ago. My dog and I were the only evidence of beach visitors as it was a cold, wintry day to be out. There were many big logs that had drifted in front of the foredune to the north of the public access.   MORE

Sand washed out to sea. Lots of wood drift inshore.   MORE

Beautiful day for strolling beach. Lovely sunset. Tangled piles of kelp as well as individual pieces all up and down the beach. More than I have seen there before. I had out of state guests who had not seen the ocean before. Very enjoyable day.   MORE

The beach was gorgeous with minimal litter - the previous weekend's beach clean-up made a difference! At this time of the year the "creek" outlet from Camp Winema was practically barren.   MORE

Just the old dock that washed up on the beach. It's not an attractive addition to the beach. It would take a big truck and some strong men to load it onto same.   MORE

Beautiful and peaceful morning and a welcome sight to see only one small piece of litter - a great improvement over last quarter.   MORE

An unusual amount of driftwood, logs and poles of different sizes. The old "dock" is very large (appr) 12X30 ft.and is readily seen when you walk on to the site. Appears to have floated in, not something someone brought there. No plastic, bottles or cans. Walking toward the water, the sand washed out into what appears to be a bank then gradually goes down to water line.   MORE

Spectacular morning at Winema beach. Appeared to have more than usual # of plastic water bottles littering the beach. Will return with large bag to gather all these recyclables.   MORE
