11 REPORTS FOR MILE 223:
Longview
Feb 16, 2013 10:00 AM

This is the start of a three-day weekend so there were lots of people and dogs on the beach. Some of the people were from the Beverly Beach camp ground. The temperature was not cold so it was a good day to go to the beach. The beach, as a whole, was pretty clean except for some rope, plastic caps, Styrofoam and a large piece from a boat. The guys thought it could be part of a cabin. We hauled it off the beach. There were 9 members from the LVH Fishing club helping with the clean up. Several people thanked us for helping keep the beaches clean.   MORE

The beach was fairly quiet and clean and the amount of human presence i.e. trash from ocean and beachcombers was less than on other walks. The work on the new Spencer Creek Bridge continues and erosion on cliffs South of Spencer Creek is evident. This is the first official CoastWatch report for me so I will continue to monitor the progression of the erosion.   MORE
